Items that have been taken out of the game generally sell for quite a lot.

They got nerfed, and they don't sell for quite alot, since they don't sell. If it'd sell an GWG, it'd go for ~500 ectos probably, not sure though, but there aren't many people who don't want this thing

so the general conclusion is that the most exspensive items are only warrior items? why's that?

Casters are much less gear dependent. A collector's staff will do the trick about 90% of the time. Perfect caster items sell for alot too sometimes, but you won't see that often. I doubt any caster item will reach over 1 Million.

EDIT: The -20Hp Axe and the Fiery Flame Spitter are caster items btw ^^

ROFLCAKES, a guildie sold his gold crystalline sword (req 12) 13>50 for 1 million and that was a fair deal. You could have got another million for the sword quite easily due to the low req.

You abused a newb and it appears you got cheated too.

My first million took me 500 hours to get (all from playing the game, and OLD Drake runs).

Next million (I have a bad habit of spending all my money once I max out ) took 49 hours. <3 prepreprenerf griffons.

I'd say it'll take 200-300 hours to make a solid mil farming. Less time if you can do high-end runs

You don't make a ton of money in this game by farming. You make it powertrading. With all the high-ticket items out there now, you can make a fortune fairly quickly with the right contact list.

And yes, many of those powertraders use ebay. Once you have more in-game gold than you have any idea what to do with, it only makes sense to 'cash' some of it out. A storage full of ecto is nice and all, but several thousand dollars of actual cash is so much nicer.

Peace,
-CxE

Technically, they are selling the time spent to acquire the gold, not the gold itself, so Anet can't really hurt them.

the loop hole of ebayers everywhere but why don't you go put an item up for cash then advertise it all over the game just to see...

Indeed. I hardly ever sell stuff that I find anymore- if it's good, I'll give it to guild mates. I farm more to mindlessly pass time than anything else. A few hours' worth of casual farming in the desert will likely get you about 20-30k a day, more if you get a really cool item to drop that will sell high.

Not all mega-rich players are ebayers, though. Some of the old-schoolers were around before many of the mega-nerfs took place, when you could get unbelievable drops all day, every day. They made their fortunes in less than 1/10th the time it would take now (probably even faster). I remember the first time I ever did farm Griffons... I think every 3rd item was a gold weapon or shield, literally. But anyone starting now would have to do some serious grinding (or get really lucky) to accumulate a million quickly.
